Gardens & Farms on Oahu

Operated by the world famous Dole Food Company, the Dole Pineapple Plantation celebrates the rich and delicious history of pineapple cultivation in Hawaii. The basic grounds are free and include pineapple-cutting demonstrations. Numerous food and drink options abound at the fruit juice stand, in the gift shop and the Plantation Grille Restaurant. This plantation is also home to the world’s largest maze. Winding over three acres and including more than two miles of confusing pathways, a game including finding eight secret stations is as fun as it is confusing.

An oasis of tropical greenery, this botanical garden holds one of the largest collections of tropical plants in the United States, several of which are endangered or even extinct in the world outside. Enjoy over fourteen acres of lush, tropical trees and other plants including a garden of primitive cycads, a garden displaying hybrid orchids, a butterfly-friendly garden, and a palm garden. An “economic garden” houses herbs and other plants that people use for food, textiles, dyes, and medicinal properties.

Waimea Valley boasts a thriving botanical garden, featuring both native and non-native plants that have been introduced to Hawaii over several millennia. Of particular note in this valley are the hibiscus garden and the native fern gardens that are both beautifully cultivated and maintained.
